Disappointed! Overpriced - old springy bed - room change not equivalent to the one booked.
Positive: the location for Bakewell is excellent, short walk down hill and you are in the centre. It is steep coming back up if you struggle with walking.
Negative: We did not get the room we booked due to flooding. Nobody contacted us to let us know, we would not have gone had we known this.
We booked the apartment with balcony but were given a room with no kitchen or lounge area in replacement. The bed was really uncomfortable, very bouncy and springs that went ping every time you moved. This spoilt our weekend as I got very little sleep and suffered with back ache in the morning. We cut the weekend short on Sunday, going straight home in the morning as too tired to go out on the Sunday.
The room smelt very musty and dirty (it looked clean), I appreciate it is an old building but have stayed in plenty of old buildings and not experienced such a bad smell.
We had taken food to cook for breakfast but couldn't as there was no kitchen, the lady did cook it for us and brought to the room, however, sadly it was cold by the time it arrived.
No discount was offered, we only paid such a high price to have the balcony, kitchen, and lounge area with comfy seating for the Saturday evening, (we had stayed in that room before), we would not return.

Comfortable and relaxing
Positive: Bagshaw Hall is a stunning building and the rooms are spacious and well appointed.
Negative: I find the car park a little snug, but all guests seem to park considerately so it is not an issue
